Telstra Shop Armidale raises massive $10,000 for lifesaving service.
A staggering $10,000 was raised for emergency helicopter service
Telstra Child Flight after an impressive fundraising event held by
Telstra Shop Armidale.
Telstra Child Flight is the only emergency helicopter transport
service in the Southern Hemisphere dedicated solely to the retrieval
of kids.
The lifesaving service ensures that critically ill and injured children
who are located in remote and regional areas have access to the vital
lifesaving services and equipment found only in these metropolitan
hospitals.
The hard working Armidale team coordinated a 'Funky Socks' bowls
day held at the local green. Event coordinator Cindy Willis was proud
of the impressive outcome of the event.
''It was fantastic to see the community pull together and support
such a worthy cause.''
''The team worked so hard planning the event. Our efforts resulted
in massive support from our local business community as well as the
Telstra Country Wide offices in Newcastle, Illawarra, Canberra and
Armidale. The overwhelming support provided us with some fantastic
auction and raffle items.
Prizes included rugby packs, crystal glassware, restaurant vouchers,
wine, an array of signed Guernsey's from a number of NRL teams and
a signed and framed Lucas Neil jersey.
Each mission undertaken by Telstra Child Flight costs between $6,000
and $15,000 and is provided at no charge to the families who require
Telstra Child Flight's assistance. While major sponsor Telstra provides
considerable support, the organisation relies heavily on the support
and generosity of the public to assist in making up for the shortfalls
of millions of dollars every year, to ensure this lifesaving service
stays in the air.
