Jett’s breath-taking trip

Jett Gustowski’s entrance into the world was fast and dramatic. Jett’s mum Kellie-Jo was scheduled for a caesarean at Calvary Hospital Wagga Wagga. But Jett, in keeping with his name, couldn’t wait to greet his parents, with his delivery a natural birth on the way to theatre.

Jett’s untimely appearance caused him severe breathing difficulties and more seriously heart and brain complications. At just eight hours old Jett took the 90 minute Telstra Child Flight chopper ride to Sydney, where he was intubated immediately to assist his breathing. The heart complications that Jett was presenting with were consistent with a heart attack. Once Jett could regulate his breathing and temperature he was moved from the intensive care unit to a general ward where he spent a further three days.

Kellie-Jo said “Many thanks to the team that retrieved our baby boy. You did a fantastic job, there’s not a bad word that I could say about Telstra Child Flight. Their care and attention were much appreciated.”
